“I’m making a huge move, you’re right. And honestly? It scares me sometimes. But living without you feels like a simple no.” I squeezed his hand tighter. “And sex? I don’t care. We’ll have all the sex we can until we can’t. And after that… we can still hold each other. Kiss. Hold hands.”

My voice softened. “And your illness… I think part of me always knew. But you don’t get to decide for me what I’m willing to walk through. That’s my choice. And I already made it.” I looked directly into his eyes. “You can decide who you want beside you at the end though.”

Silence settled between us. “Who do you want to die with?”

He leaned toward me, eyes locked on mine, and wrapped his hand around my fingers.

“I want to die with you.”

The gravity of the moment hit me all at once. He wanted to die with me.
