Three weeks later following intense texting getting to know one another, things started to become … strange.
Just before the unexplained took hold, I was noticing how I was looking for him throughout my day. He was finding me during every break, on his way to work, his drive home from work and while he watched tv until we both fell asleep. A steady shift was moving through us. It felt effortless.
He shared a song he recorded with me earlier that week and I added it to my playlist. It was edgy, rock flavoured and dedicated around injustice and that in itself drew me closer to him. His voice was deep, gritty and settled right into me with a twist of Ozzy when he climbed higher. The music left me wanting more of him. I had only seen that photo through the game and I longed to know who the man was behind the microphone. The song became significant to us. For the first couple of months every time I played the song he texted me within the first forty seconds. At first, I thought I was losing my mind, yet it continued. Every time.
Then the ravens came. Two beautiful, large black ravens. They would swoop down in front of me as they passed. How was this odd? They only came when I was talking to him or texting. And no foreshadowing here, they are still with me when he texts and calls in Book 3. I have always felt a connection to crows and ravens, they symbolized who I was and wanted to be, mischievous, wise, dark, understanding and most of all, transformative. I eventually had to accept that they were part of the Universe package handed to me when they put their beer down.
The third piece came in numbers.
11:11.
I had never been one to pay attention to numbers, but Bowie did. We started noticing we were texting at 11:11. Coincidence at first. Then he began saying it everyday and I began to see the pattern. I couldn’t explain these three pieces:

Numbers
It felt like it was a message we were meant to connect and continue to keep going.
